Thursday, May 15th is Bike to Work Day - the day when people who don't usually bicycle to work join people who usually do. Every year, people bicycle to work for the first time on Bike to Work Day and discover it's possible, it's exercise, and it's energy-efficient.
Check it out in advance. Where will you park your bike? Are showers and lockers available? Figure out your route? Inspect your bike for loose or broken parts. Give it the ABC Quick Check: Air, Brakes, Cranks, Chain, Cassette. Don't know what those are? Stop in at a bike shop and ask for a quick maintenance check.
Then take a check ride, paying extra attention that everything's working so Thursday morning you can toss the car keys and bicycle to work. |

The Capitol BikeFest is this Thursday, May 15th, at the west steps of the Capitol from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. More than 50 bike shops, groups and organizations will have tables of information on bicycling, walking, transit and more.
Print your page that shows your miles logged and turn it in at the BikeFest for a chance to win a bicycle, for a TShirt if you don't have one yet, and for ice cream or a Hagen Freeze! Bicycles will be raffled at noon (must be present to win.) |

Welcome, as we celebrate again the joy of bicycling. If you live or work in the Sacramento region*, this website is for you and you can start logging miles on May 1st. The website will make it easy and fun to challenge your friends or co-workers, and for friendly challenges among employers.
* The Sacramento region is El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba Counties. |
